Aeronautical Charts

Aeronautical Charts Profile

3001's Aero Department currently maintains a significant number of the DoD Flight Information Publication (FLIP) Enroute and Area Arrival Charts. These aeronautical charts are used by government agencies for flight planning and navigation purposes. Utilizing ESRI's ArcGIS software, combined with the Production Line Tool Set (PLTS) extension and related Aeronautical solution, the Aero maintenance staff updates the charts in a database-driven, highly-automated process. The charts are then exported ready for printing. By keeping maintenance work in an all-digital format, as opposed to manual cartographic methods, there is a great reduction in delivery time and labor costs while maintaining a high-quality product.

Aeronautical Charts Success

3001 has delivered over 300 charts "First-Time-Right" in our first year of production using the ESRI ArcGIS and PLTS software. Completion of updates and deliveries are made in a fixed and compressed deadline schedule that are driven by ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) standard updates, frequency of flight patterns, and FAA and international safety requirements. 3001 has created aeronautical chart GeoTIFFs for digital implementation to assist in mission planning and data verification by NGA.
