Miscellaneous Lakes

Summary:

3001 collected LiDAR data using a Leica ALS50 sensor and aerial imagery with a DMC. The LiDAR data were used to create bare earth digital terrain models (DTMs) at 3-meter grid spacing, 2-foot and 1-foot contours, and hydrologically-enforced breaklines. 3001 collected LiDAR data at 2-meter postings and airborne imagery at 5.4-inch ground sample distance (GSD) pixel resolution to produce 6-inch orthophotos for various lakes throughout the state of Alabama. We produced DTMs, contours, and digital orthophotos to support APCO’s GIS basemap. All data meet National Standard for Spatial Data Accuracy (NSSDA) requirements, with the LiDAR data exceeding the 15-centimeter vertical RMSE specification.

Figures (right) depict the 1-foot and 2-foot contours. Green depicts the pool elevation, yellow depicts the 1-foot contour areas, and red depicts the 2-foot contour areas.

Duke Energy Lighting Inventory

Summary:

3001 and Duke Power, a Duke Energy Corporation, inventoried the municipal lighting facilities throughout Duke Power's North and South Carolina service areas. Global positioning systems (GPS) and geographic information systems (GIS) technologies were used to populate Duke Power's governmental street lighting database. The contract scope included inventorying 127,000 street lighting and traffic support poles, and all fixtures and attachments for service areas in North and South Carolina. Brent Richardson, Duke Power’s Project Manager, said, "3001’s knowledgeable workforce has adapted to overcome several technical obstacles and produce excellent results under a tight timetable."
